The House of Representatives’ team set up to monitor settlement of the Bank Century bailout has summoned National Police Chief Gen. Bambang Hendarso Danuri for a hearing next week.

“We are going to have a meeting with the police chief next Wednesday to discuss the development of the investigation into state officials suspected to have violated the law in the case,” the team’s interim chairman, Priyo Budi Santoso from the Golkar Party, told reporters on Wednesday.

Priyo underlined that the team would only focus on the criminal aspects of the investigation, because the corruption aspects had been handed to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

The team summoned KPK leaders last week but the meeting ended prematurely after the lawmakers found the anti-graft body had not received documents related to the House’s inquiry into the bailout case.

The House called in March the bailout, which jumped by 10 times to Rp 6.76 trillion (US$716 million) from its original estimate, was flawed and smacked with graft. The House also recommended a legal process against officials responsible for the policy, including Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and then Bank Indonesia governor Boediono, now the vice president.
