The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) says that the recent arrest of a whistle-blowing police general shows that the government has practically given up in its fight against the mobsters within the legal system.

"Why is there no defense for people who tell the truth? The government is helpless and has waved the white flag," PKS Deputy Secretary General Fahri Hamzah told reporters at the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The police recently arrested former National Police detective chief Comr. Gen. Susno Duadji for an alleged fraud involving Riau-based arowana fishing company.

Ironically, It is also Susno who revealed the fraud to the public's eyes in the first place.

Separately, Golkar Party legislator Bambang Soesatyo said that the House law commission would do its best to guarantee and protect Susno.

"Susno's past is not our main concern, but his statements are because they are important to unravel the mafia practices within the legal system," he said.

Susno, who lost his chief detective post after a presidential team uncovered a plot to frame two Corruption Eradication Commission leaders last November, has come under media spotlight after he struck back by unveiling case brokering involving a tax official, police officers and state prosecutors.

A suspect in the case said Susno was part of the case brokering mafia himself.
